Boot Fitting Technology
The basics:
The importance of choosing the right boot can not be underestimated. Selecting the correct size, best shell shape for your foot and the best flex level for your fitness and ability can make the difference between your best and worst ski trip.
Every winter we have customers that are buying boots for the first time, who are fed up with hiring rental boots that they have to swap for a different size or model (often several times during their holiday). We are here to help you to avoid this experience.
To ensure the perfect fit:
Footbeds and Insoles
In an ideal world everybody should have significantly more support and stability from a footbed, in all their footwear. This becomes even important when dealing with ski boots. Most knee or ankle problems can be minimized or alleviated with the right insoles.
The pressure being put through your feet when skiing can be up to three times your body weight. This means that your feet should have suitable support, and need to be stabilized appropriately. In order that pressure is evenly distributed, providing better transmission directly through the boot and binding to the skis edges.
We offer Conformable CustomPro, custom molded footbeds, that fully stabilize your entire foot, and offer significant shock absorption. These are shaped to your boots, and do not restrict the natural movement of the ankle.
We analyse your foot shape and the mobility of your feet and ankles, also assessing your pressure distribution. We then position your feet in the correct biomechanical position for your skiing needs when taking the molds which we will use to create your footbeds. The footbeds are then stabilized using EVA foam that is then ground to correct shape for your boots.
We also carry a range of pre-molded insoles from Superfeet. These are a quick-fix, easy solution for your ski boots and save the expense and time taken when having custom molded insoles made. There are a variety of options in terms of support, shock absorption and volume. These insoles are designed to aid the anatomy of your foot and improve balance, stability, and shock absorption.
The deep heel cup they have cradles the heel’s fat pad for improved natural shock absorption. They reduce pronation, increase rear foot stability and provide underfoot support.
They are a considerable improvement on the standard insole provided in an “off-the-shelf” ski boot.
Boot stretching:
Everybody has different shaped feet, and often people struggle to find ski boots that work for their foot shape. All is not lost, there are a variety of options available. It is possible to stretch ski boots in a specific point or area to reduce pressure, providing comfort without sacrificing the hold and fit of the boot.
Boot stretching is generally done to alleviate the pressure at the widest part of the foot, or at structural deformities and overly prominent bones of the foot. However it is not uncommon to stretch boots
The feet are very sensitive and even the smallest adjustments to the shell shape of your boots can be extremely effective.
Canting (cuff alignment):
The combination of a proper custom molded footbed and the adjustment of the angle at which the cuff of the ski boots sits are the final adjustments to guarantee a perfect fit.
Many companies make ski boots with an adjustable cuff that you can tilt towards the inside or outside edge of the ski. This adjustment is designed to follow the shape of your leg, making sure the boot has the optimum fit through your lower leg and further maximising transmission to your skis.
Hawx technology:
I-Flex Zone:
Hawx conforms correctly to the biomechanics of your feet. The i-flex insert in the middle of the foot allows natural flexing movements and transmits them directly to the ski. The result: An improvement in your balance and control in every phase of the turn. Finally, high performance has been made easy too.
Walking Made easy: with i-flex, you can walk like a normal person, not some defective robot.

All Tecnica Boots are manufactured using 3Density Technology. 3Density Technology is a PU structure with reinforcing ribs covered by transparent polyester with differing hardness zones suited to different functions. The result is a perfect fit and maximum transmission of energy from the foot to the ski.
Dragon 3Density Technology:
In the high performance Dragon range the asymmetrical lateral ribs and the differentiated hardness of the shell structure create a progressive yet completely natural wraparound effect for the foot resulting in total energy transmission to the ski.
Degree of hardness:
70% Hard - 30% Soft.
Phoenix 3Density Technology:
The new Phoenix 3 D design technology has been specially devised to work in synergy with the Delta Force system favouring a more fluid and progressive flex and greater power transmission to the ski.
Degree of hardness: 70% Hard - 30% Soft
Mega+ 3Density Technology:
The Mega+ range has been specifically designed for a comfortable wraparound fit ensuring comfort, safety and control. An ideal balance between performance and comfort.

50%Hard - 50% Soft.
Diablo:
Racers seek outstanding performance, record-breaking speed and the ultimate thrill when skiing and demand wraparound, extremely sensitive skiboots which guarantee maximum power transmission, instant response to commands and precise, reliable control of runs. Diablo by Tecnica, the bends have never been so straight.
Diablo is the ultimate racing skiboot whose unique structure makes it ideal for competitive skiing by the most demanding and aggressive skiers. Thanks to the ultra-elastic polyether material, rebound is perfect (the immediate elastic response of the skiboot to the skier’s commands). The new liner, crafted with special self-moulding materials, adapts perfectly to the shape of your foot and leg for a sensational wraparound, sensitive fit.
Boot Features:
Aggressive 98mm last
Race fit / Pro fit liners
Flex Range 100-130
New Carbon Steel Buckles: The ultra-slim but extra-strong, flexible buckles on both the new Diablo Race models are in carbon steel. Their unique streamlined desi¬gn means there is less chance of accidental impact or coming undone, as well as avoiding snow build-up.
Flex Adjustment Device:
The adjustment system on the rear of the boot is used to change the flex as needed by simply removing or inserting the two steel studs. When both studs are inserted the boot is at its most rigid, with one stud inserted it is medium hard and without either it is particularly flexible.
ADJ Spoiler:
Rear spoiler with fast height adjustment needing no tools thanks to the practical and dependable Velcro fastening.
Velcro buckle:
The Velcro strip acts as a fifth buckle ensuring more effective cuff wraparound resulting in more direct power transmission.
Inside and Outside Canting:
The double canting adjustment allows perfect lateral alignment of the cuff to the leg shape.
Dragon:
High performance skiers expect nothing but the best, are perfectionists and pure skiing fanatics. They are not willing to compromise on performance or comfort and seek ergonomic, anatomic, wraparound skiboots which can also guarantee maximum grip, power and performance.
Dragon by Tecnica: never has a skiboot been so technologically advanced.
Dragon by Tecnica, reaching new heights in technical evolution.
Tecnica’s research and innovation have come together to produce the ultimate boot – Dragon - a truly “foot-shaped“ skiboot where the “bones and nerves” structure is integrated with the super-wraparound construction of the toe box and the tough shell side ribs. This exceptionally anatomic wraparound fit provides an amazingly natural skiing position. Tecnica’s exclusive 3D Technology has extended the area of maximum hardness to include the boot sides and this allows skiers to make the most of their strength. The asymmetrical structure of the lateral frames allows greater energy transmission on the inside so power gets right down to the toe and sole without it being lost and is then transmitted to the ski binding.
Boot Features:
High Performance 100mm last
Hiper fit / Ultra fit liners
Flex Range 90-120
Higher Cuff: The cuff, which is 12mm higher than others, ensure maximum transmission of power to the ski so that the most expert skiers can be sure of top performance.
Ultraflex system: The revolutionary integrated Ultraflex system transforms the Velcro strap into a new dynamic part of the boot that can respond to the skier’s dynamic stimuli while skiing to give even more control over movement.
Asymmetrical Structure: Development in the 3D Technology has led to extending the zone of maximum hardness to the lateral frame of the boot so that skiers can fully exploit their power. The asymmetrical lateral frames enable more energy transmission in the more essential internal part so that the force arrives intact right to the toe box and the sole and therefore to the ski binding.
AVS Grip Sole: Dragon’s advanced Anti Vibration System cushions movements so that grip is supreme. The Grip-sole injected heel with soft grip material guarantees a true non-slip effect.
New Carbon Steel Buckles: The ultra-slim but extra-strong, flexible buckles on both the new Diablo Race models are in carbon steel. Their unique streamlined desi¬gn means there is less chance of accidental impact or coming undone, as well as avoiding snow build-up.
Easier Entry / Exit Zone: It is much easier to put the boot on and take it off thanks to the ‘instep area’ system, featuring a cuff with straighter flaps and more distance between the heel and the instep.
1.2.3. Flex System: The adjustment system on the rear of the boot is used to change the flex as needed by simply removing or inserting the two steel studs. When both studs are inserted the boot is at its most rigid, with one stud inserted it is medium hard and without either it is particularly flexible.
